Being bold is about the mindset. Being bold is about the way we make our decisions. It’s the way we talk and choose the words. It’s the way we live life. It’s the way we say NO when we want to.
As much as the influence society has on cinema, the vice versa is true. I always see this word ‘bold’ being used by these film industries, mainly across India, whenever the actors/actresses perform an explicit scene i.e. a nude scene or an intimate scene.
Yes, I agree that one needs to be strong and confident enough, specifically BOLD enough to play such a role on-screen. Knowing the fact that millions of people would be watching and judging them, is really a bold move.
But, somewhere, I felt that the word ‘Bold’ is being stereotyped for a particular kind of role in films when the word can be used for many other suitable roles. This stereotype can potentially put the actual meaning of the word in danger.
When the word ‘bold’ comes into our mind, we just feel it as a superficial quality, but in actuality, it is a lot more than that, a lot deeper. Ultimately, the arrived outcome after a lot of agreements and disagreements, after a lot of uncomfortable conversations within oneself — BOLD
